Round3 (Round3 Jobs): your first job, one application

Round3 (also called Round3 Jobs, at round3jobs.com) is a free Canadian platform where teens and students aged 14 and up find their first paid job, volunteer roles and spots on high school and university clubs with one profile and one application. Applicants apply in rounds (a short written application, then video, phone, in-person or recorded interviews they book themselves) and every interviewed applicant gets an answer. Employers, non-profits and student clubs post roles, choose their interview rounds and hire fairly: pay, minimum age and hiring rules are checked for each province, every employer is checked by a person, and Round3 never uses AI to score or rank people. Parents can link to their teen to follow applications and read a copy of employer messages.

Questions
Can I apply to school clubs?
Yes. Open Find jobs, choose Clubs, pick high school or university, and search for your school. You will see every club recruiting there. Most start with a written application with word limits, then an interview or a short recorded video, and sometimes a final round.
Who can use Round3?
Anyone 14 or older looking for a first job or a volunteer role. In Ontario most stores, offices and restaurant dining rooms can hire at 14, kitchens, warehouses and factories at 15, and construction sites at 16. A parent or guardian can link to your account if you want them to follow along.
Do I have to be a Canadian citizen?
No. You can work in Canada if you are legally entitled to: citizens, permanent residents and people whose permit allows the work, like many students with a study permit. Employers on Round3 ask only one question about this, "Are you legally entitled to work in Canada?", and they are not allowed to ask about citizenship. Volunteer roles do not ask.
I have no resume and no experience. Can I still apply?
Yes. The resume builder is made for first-timers. Babysitting, volunteering, sports teams, school clubs and tutoring all count, and plenty of jobs ask for no experience at all.
How do interviews work?
Each employer chooses the steps for their job: an optional written application, then up to five rounds in any order. A round can be a recorded video you answer on your own time, a video call, a phone call or an in-person meeting. For live rounds you book a time that suits you.
Who can see my recorded answers?
Only the people on that employer's team. They cannot download your answers, and Round3 deletes them within 60 days of the decision. You can answer with video, audio only or typing, and you can ask for more time as an accommodation.
What if my camera or Wi-Fi breaks during a recorded interview?
Tap "Report a problem". The employer sees your report and can give you another try on that question. Leaving in the middle of a question uses up that question, so start when you have 10 quiet minutes.
What if I cannot make my interview?
For a group session, tap "Release my spot" and someone on the waitlist takes it. For a one-on-one, tap "Reschedule" and pick another open time, or cancel. Please do it as early as you can.
How do references work?
Add one or two adults who know you, like a coach, teacher or supervisor, but not family. Round3 emails them a short form. Their answers go to employers you apply to, not to you, so they can be honest.
Do volunteer roles count toward my school's volunteer hours?
Usually, yes. Ontario high school students need 40 hours of community involvement to graduate; B.C. and Yukon students need 30 hours of work or volunteer experience for Career-Life Connections; Newfoundland and Labrador students need 30 for Career Development 2201; and Northwest Territories students need 25. In PEI, volunteer hours in grades 10 to 12 earn a bursary of $10 an hour. Your school makes the final call. Log your hours in your profile and ask your supervisor to sign them off.
Will every employer reply?
Employers agree in writing to reply to every candidate they interview within a set number of days, and you see that deadline on the job. If an employer misses it, tell us. Repeated misses mean the employer loses access.
Does software score or rank me?
No. Round3 does not use AI to score, rank or reject anyone. Employers see which requirements you meet, and a person makes every decision.
What do you store about me?
The profile and documents you add, kept in locked storage with a deletion date. Round3 never stores your SIN or government ID numbers. If you upload a police check, it is deleted after the hiring decision. You can delete your account at any time.
We run a student club. Can we recruit on Round3?
Yes. Sign up as a club, search for your school and add your club. You write your own Round 1 questions with word limits, then invite people to an interview or a recorded video round, with any answer length you choose. High school clubs add a staff advisor who approves each role.
How is this different from posting on a job board?
Applicants arrive with their certificates uploaded and your screening questions answered. Then you hire your way: an optional written application, then any mix of rounds you choose, like video calls, phone calls, in-person meetings or recorded answers you watch when it suits you. Scorecards, offers and onboarding live in the same place.
Is Round3 a recruiting agency?
Round3 runs scheduled sessions and provides software. You make every hiring decision and stay the legal employer.
What do I agree to?
Three things in writing: reply to every interviewed candidate within a fixed number of days, post pay at or above the legal minimum, and use only job-related questions.
Can I ask if someone is a citizen or permanent resident?
No. Under Ontario's Human Rights Code you may ask whether an applicant is legally entitled to work in Canada, and Round3 asks every applicant to a paid job that question for you. You may not ask about citizenship or permanent residence, or require permanent eligibility. You confirm entitlement with their Social Insurance Number when you hire.
What ages can I hire?
Ontario sets minimum ages by type of workplace: 14 for most stores, offices, arenas and restaurant serving areas, 15 for kitchens, warehouses, factories, garages and laundries, 16 for construction, and 18 to serve alcohol. Round3 shows the legal minimum when you choose the workplace type, and stops you posting below it. Anyone under 16 cannot work during school hours.
Can I post unpaid or volunteer roles?
Charities, non-profits, community groups and public bodies can post volunteer roles, which appear in a separate Volunteer section. Businesses post paid jobs only: in Ontario, people who do work for a business are generally employees, and since March 2024 trial shifts count as paid work too.
How do group sessions work?
You choose how long the session runs, the most people who can come and how many minutes you get with each person. Round3 checks it fits, books a host, confirms seats and runs the lobby.
How do one-on-one interviews work?
Paint the times you are free each week once. Round3 turns them into bookable slots, and applicants pick one right after applying, or after you review and invite them. Choose video, a phone call where nobody sees a number, or in person.
How do recorded interviews work?
You choose 3 to 10 questions from our bank of fair, job-related questions or write your own, and set how long people get to think and answer. Applicants see each question only when it starts and get one take, so everyone answers the same questions the same way. You watch at your own pace and score with the same scorecard.
What if few applicants show up?
We set an attendance target for each session and confirm seats 5 to 10 days out and again the day before. If too few people come, we set up another session. Or switch the job to one-on-ones or recorded interviews.
Can I use my own hiring system?
You can view and download each candidate's profile and documents. Round3 keeps the decision record and reminders so you do not have to.
What does Round3 check about certificates?
Each one is labelled self-declared, document checked or issuer confirmed. We never use the word "verified" unless the issuer confirmed it, and you always inspect originals before the first shift.
How do I link to my teen?
Make a parent account, then type the 6-character code your teen sees under Privacy & guardian in their account, or scan their QR code. The code changes every 10 minutes, so it only works while they are showing it to you. You can link more than one teen, and either of you can disconnect at any time.
How do I know the employer is real?
A person phones each employer and checks the organization before any of its jobs appear.
What about recorded interviews?
Some employers ask applicants to record short answers instead of meeting. Only the employer's named team can watch, there is no download, and Round3 deletes the answers within 60 days of the decision. Your teen can answer by typing or audio only if they prefer.
What can I see as a parent?
Once your teen links you with their code, you can follow their applications, interviews and offers, and read a copy of employer messages. Nothing needs your approval.
What about volunteering?
Volunteer roles are unpaid and only charities, non-profits, community groups and public bodies can post them. They follow the same safety rules, and most count toward the volunteer hours some provinces ask for, like the 40 community involvement hours Ontario high school students need to graduate.
Can I see my teen's messages?
Messages with employers stay on Round3, and the parent view shows a read-only copy. Phone numbers and addresses are not shared before a guardian is informed.
What if something feels wrong?
Every interview screen has a report button, and the parent view has a way to reach the Round3 safety team. Serious concerns end the session and a person reviews every report.
